Fraunhofer FKIE, together with its partners, develops pioneering technologies and processes for detecting, minimizing, and managing risks that threaten existence, both in the civilian sector and in command and intelligence processes in the defense sector. In this context, FKIE addresses the security of information and communications technology components along the entire chain of effects—from data collection, processing, and transmission to decision support in operational scenarios.
Within the I2SN research network, FKIE is responsible for the Cyber/IT field of expertise. Competencies from academia, industry, and the public sector are brought together and incorporated into Saxony’s science and industry landscape. FKIE serves as an integrative hub that brings together technical expertise and makes it available for addressing shared issues.
In the Joint Labs, the key areas of Software-Defined Defense, Cybersecurity, and Resilience are addressed from an integrated perspective encompassing research, technology development, and innovation. Selected FKIE and partner projects in the field of security-critical and defense-related applications are presented and placed in a shared context. This creates a practice-oriented overview of current developments and approaches to solutions within the network.
With its focus on Cyber/IT, FKIE complements the other technological fields of expertise and strengthens collaboration across the network.
