About Us

Mission and Value Proposition

The I2SN research network pursues a multi-stakeholder approach that specifically strengthens collaboration between science and research in Saxony in order to promote new technological developments for integrated security and sustainability.

I2SN acts as an enabler and catalyst for responsible, security-related innovation. Through exchange between science, industry, policymakers and the public sector, solutions are developed that integrate societal, technological and economic requirements.

The combination of the future-oriented fields of materials, energy and cyber/IT creates a multidisciplinary platform for leading scientific stakeholders – from basic research through to applied research. This makes research outcomes visible, unlocks synergies and effectively strengthens knowledge transfer.

I2SN promotes spillovers and dual-use technologies, supports the development of security-related applications and assists research partners through advisory and exchange formats in the efficient and responsible transfer of research into practice. In doing so, the network makes a significant contribution to strengthening Saxony as a centre of innovation and business.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board of the I2SN research network supports the network’s strategic development. It is composed of representatives from science, industry, politics and public administration and contributes external expertise to the strategic direction of I2SN.

The Advisory Board provides support in particular with:

  • strategic issues
  • the evaluation of research priorities
  • strengthening the transfer of research into application and practice
